The UHA Lady Blazers picked up a solid weekend performance against some top level competition, as they finished 5th in the Silver Bracket of the Quad State Tournament at the Paducah Sportsplex. The Lady Blazers went 4-2 over the weekend to pick up the 5th place finish.
The Lady Blazers won their first match of pool play in the tournament, beating Germantown, Tennessee in straight sets, 25-21, 25-8. The Blazers had 17 team kills, 31 digs, 19 set assists, and 6 aces.
UHA then lost their second match of Friday night in pool play, falling to Owensboro Catholic in straight sets 18-25, 22-25. The Lady Blazers had 14 kills, 4 aces, 38 digs, 14 assists, and 6 blocks.
The Lady Blazers finished pool play Saturday morning against Calloway County. UHA picked up the win over the Lady Lakers in straight sets, 25-13 and 25-16. With the 2-1 record in pool play, the Lady Blazers advanced to the Silver Bracket.
UHA squared off against St. Agnes in their opening match of bracket play. The Lady Blazers fell in a tough three set match, 23-25, 25-21, 11-15.
With the loss, UHA into the consolation side of the Silver Bracket, with their next match against Christian Fellowship. The Lady Blazers rebounded with a three set win over the Lady Eagles, 25-20, 14-25, 15-6.
In the 5th place game of the Silver Bracket, UHA was matched up against Clinton County. The Lady Blazes controlled the match and won handily in straight sets 25-19 and 25-18.
The Lady Blazers finish out the weekend with their record now at 18-4 on the season.
