Michael Andrews Named Todd County Central Softball Coach

Todd County Central has named Rebel alumni Michael Andrews their softball coach for the 2020 season.

Andrews was an assistant coach on the Rebel baseball team in 2019 and served two seasons as assistant basketball coach in 2017-18.

Andrews began his teaching and coaching career in Webster County where he was an assistant coach for the Trojan football team. He was also the coach for the Lady Trojan softball program as they made the transition from slow pitch to fast pitch in the mid-1990s.

“I am looking forward to meeting the returning players and future players, along with the Lady Rebel Softball Boosters,” Andrews said in a media release from the school. “I want to build a team that strives for the same basic goal, therefore the goal becomes real and then players and coaches can hold each other accountable.”

Andrews replaces Brandi Francies who went 22-48 in three seasons as head coach. The Lady Rebels saw an increase in wins each of the three seasons. The Lady Rebels have not won a district tournament game since 2014 and last won a district title in 2008.

Todd County Central graduated just three seniors from a team that went 9-17 in 2019.
