Heritage Christian Academy picked up a pair of big KCAA soccer wins over the weekend and has solidified themselves as a team to watch in the postseason.

The Warriors, ranked No. 5 in this week’s KCAA Power Poll, beat No 4 Trinity Christian 2-1 Friday behind goals from Ryan Trapnell and Mati Venable. Thomas West added an assist, and Andrew Gentry was solid behind the Warrior defense with 10 saves in goal. It was HCA’s first win over Trinity in five seasons.

On Saturday, the Warriors edged past No. 3 Assumption 2-1. West had a goal and an assist, and Trapnell added the second goal for HCA. The Warrior defense was big again in front of Gentry, who had 13 saves in goal.

HCA moved to 2-1 under interim coach Jeff Alcorn. They stand at 6-5 on the season and 5-3 in KCAA play.

The Warriors will host No. 2 Highlands Latin Saturday at Warrior Field for their annual Senior Day contest.
