Tomas Duncan continues to lead the way for the University Heights cross country team, but the runners behind him are continuing to improve and could make the Blazers a contender for the region title next month.
Duncan finished fifth Saturday at the Marshall County Invitational, the site of the region meet. He covered the course in a time of 17:02. Muhlenberg County’s Jonah Mitchell won the race in a time of 16:25.
Walter Kunnmann finished 37th in a time of 18:37, while Luke Shouse was 105th in 20:31, and Chase Hendricks was 141st (21:33).
The Blazers only fielded four runners in the varsity race which was one shy of the number required for a team score.
