Austin Cavanaugh won his first cross country meet of his freshman season Saturday at the Graves County Eagle Classic in Mayfield. Cavanaugh’s time of 17:36 over the 3.1-mile course was 19 seconds faster than second place Isaac Lockwood of Graves County.
Marshall Jenkins also brought home a top-10 finish for Trigg, taking tenth in 19:16. Timmy Cannon was 14th (19:37), followed by Riley Thompson (18th, 19:46); Apolo Blackbear-Francis (19th, 19:48); Jonathan Williams (27th, 20:25); and Ryan Simpson (66th, 24:12).
Trigg County finished in third place as a team with 62 points. Graves County and Calloway County tied for first place with the sixth runner used as a tie-breaker. Graves’ sixth man was 21st compared to 28th place for Calloway.
River Oliver was Trigg’s top runner in the middle school race with a second place finish.
