
Hopkinsville junior Chase Atkins continued his strong start to the cross country season with a top-three finish at the Central Kentucky Run for the Gold in Elizabethtown Saturday.
Atkins finished in third place with a time of 16:33 over the 3.1-mile course, averaging 5:19 a mile.
Freshman Chance Jones was 69th with a time of 18:48, followed by fellow freshman Quinn Miller in 108th (19:46). Michael Combs was 217th (25:58), and Jerel Lee was 226th (31:10).
Lafayette’s Will Cahill won the race in a time of 16:18.
As a team, Hopkinsville finished 24th out of 29 teams at the meet, held at the Elizabethtown Sports Complex.
