
After narrowly missing picking up their first win of the season Saturday morning in a 2-1 loss to Russellville, Caldwell County’s boys’ soccer team finally knocked down that door Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers built a 5-2 lead and held on for a 5-4 triumph over Butler County in action at the Russellville Panther Classic.
The victory ends a five-game season-opening losing streak for the young Caldwell squad.
Grayden Miller had two goals and an assist in the win over the Bears (0-4-1).
Scoring once each for Caldwell were Blake Vivrette, JJ Herrell and Nick Adams.
Herrell also recorded an assist.
Josh Hagan picked up five saves in the Caldwell net.
In the loss to Russellville, Vivrette had the Tigers’ lone goal.
Hagan recorded six saves in that contest.
Russellville is 2-4.
Caldwell will play again on Tuesday when it takes on Lyon County at 6 p.m. in the 2nd Region All A Classic semifinals in Eddyville.
