The Caldwell County Lady Tigers volleyball team picked up a split on its trip to Louisville Saturday. The Lady Tigers upended Presentation in a thrilling five set match, while falling to Assumption in straight sets.
The match against Presentation was a classic battle. It looked like the Lady Tigers were in trouble after the opening set, as Presentation rolled to a 25-7 win. However, Caldwell County battled their way back, and took an extremely tough second set 26-24.
The third set was much like the first, with Presentation again looking like they were taking control of the match, pulling away to a 25-15 win. The Lady Tigers responded with one of the strongest sets of the day in the 4th set, picking up the 25-17 win to force the deciding 5th set.
The deciding set was one worthy of the rest of the match, as it was a tight, down to the wire battle. This time, the Lady Tigers came out on top 15-13. The finish of the match can be seen in this video clip.
In their match against Holy Cross, the Lady Tigers ran into a buzzsaw in the Lady Cougards. Holy Cross, which only lost one set in four matches in the opening week of the season handed the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season in straight sets, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-14.
