Christian County’s slow start to the soccer season continued Saturday with a 7-2 loss to Logan County at the Stadium of Champions. The Lady Colonels dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
Logan County controlled the midfield throughout the first half and scored the first two goals of game off the feet of Peyton Vanzant and Addie Corder.
Christian County answered in the 24th minute when Emma Fleming got behind the Logan defense for a goal.
Logan County’s Kadyn Costello countered with the first of her four goals on the afternoon on a breakaway in the 31st minute.
The backbreaker came in the final minute of the half when Logan’s Morgan Gafford scored off a corner kick to give the Lady Cougars a 4-1 halftime lead.
Christian County encountered some bad luck in the second half that kept them from tying the game. Two of their shots hit the cross bar, one just missed the cross bar, and a penalty kick was pulled left — all in a 15-minute stretch.
Autumn Bell did find the back of the net off a pass from Fleming to cut the deficit to 5-2, but Logan County’s Costello tallied all three of her team’s goals in the second half for the final margin.
Logan County outshot the Lady Colonels 19-8 in the contest.
Christian County has been outscored 27-3 in their first three games and look to flip the script Monday when they host Grayson County at the Stadium of Champions.
