Hoptown Finishes 2-3 at Apollo Summer Slam

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers finished out their appearance in the Apollo Summer Slam by winning one of their three games in the silver bracket Saturday in Owensboro. The Lady Tigers took the 7th place game by defeating McLean County in straight sets.

The first action of the day saw the Lady Tigers and Paducah Tilghman square off in a tense three set battle. Hopkinsville got off to a good start, taking the opening set 25-21. The Lady Tigers has their chances to close out the match in the second set, but Tilghman fought back and ended up taking the set 27-25 to force a third and deciding set.

The final set was a battle down to the very end. The Lady Blue Tornado finally snuck away with a 16-14 win to close out the match.

That set up a match between Hopkinsville and North Bullitt. North Bullitt took control of the match early and swept their way to a 25-16 and 25-18 win, and dropping Hopkinsville into the 7th place match with McLean County.

The Lady Tigers finish the weekend at 2-3. They will return to action Tuesday when they host Henderson County.
