The team tabbed as the favorite to win the 2nd Region volleyball championship in 2019 did nothing to harm those lofty expectations in their season opener Monday evening. The UHA Lady Blazers went on the road to Mortons Gap and came away with a straight set win over the Hopkins Central Lady Storm, 25-11, 25-22, and 25-8.
The Lady Blazers took control of the match early and rolled to the three set win. Central battled, trying to make a match out of it in the second set, before ultimately falling by three points.
A solid team effort on the night for the Lady Blazers. UHA finished with 16 team aces, 27 team kills, and 27 digs.
