Lyon County American Legion Post 68 saw its run at the Great Lakes Regional Tournament come to an end on Friday.
The Post 68 Aces suffered a 6-3 setback to Gladwin County (Mich.) Post 171. It was the second straight loss by Lyon County, which opened the event with a 5-2 win over Hempfield East (Pa.) Post 981 on Wednesday.
Post 68 took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on an RBI double by Will Thompson and a run-scoring single by Tristan Mannahan.
However, a five-run third put the Michigan squad in front to stay.
Down 6-2 in the seventh inning, Thompson drove in another run with an infield single to make it 6-3. That also got the potential tying run to the plate with two outs, but a grounder back to the pitcher ended the contest.
Thompson finished 2-for-3 at the plate while Davis Corbett was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Lyon County Post 68, which won the Kentucky state championship for the second straight year, finishes the summer with a 16-7-1 record.
