The Caldwell County Lady Tiger volleyball team went 3-3 against stiff competition at the Bluegrass State Games in Lexington this weekend.
Caldwell picked up a pair of victories in preliminary pool play on Friday. Caldwell dispatched Whitley County 21-14, 21-18, then knocked off Thomas Nelson 21-16, 17-21, 16-14.
Teams were reseeded into new pools for action on Saturday. Caldwell lost to Warren East 21-16, 21-19, but came back to defeat Western Hills 22-20, 21-17.The Lady Tigers then fell to Lexington Dunbar 21-10, 21-10.
In the single-elimination portion of the Bluegrass State Games on Sunday, Caldwell drew Great Crossing, the new high school in Scott County. The Lady Tigers dropped that match 21-15, 22-20.
The Bluegrass Games are a preseason event for high school teams in Kentucky.
The Lady Tiger volleyball team will take the court again on Monday, Aug. 19, when it begins the 2019 regular season by hosting Livingston Central in a first round game in the 2nd Region All ‘A’ Classic tournament.
