
University Heights Academy went 1-1 on the first day of the Bluegrass State Games in Lexington Friday.
The Lady Blazers, who were 25-15 last year and advanced to the championship game of the Second Region Tournament, beat Lafayette 21-13, 18-21, 15-7 in their first pool play game. Lafayette graduated just three seniors from last year’s 21-15 team.
In their final pool play game, the Lady Blazers dropped a close 21-16, 21-17 match to Presentation Academy of Louisville. The Toppers were 15-17 last year and finished as the All-A Classic State Tournament runner-up.
UHA will continue play in the Bluegrass State Games Saturday in Lexington.
