University Heights Academy seventh grader Conlee Lindsey has advanced to the next round of the national Drive, Chip, and Putt competition.

Lindsey finished in third place in her age division at the local qualifier Wednesday in Smyrna, Tennessee. Players get points based on the accuracy of three drives, three chips, and three putts. Lindsey scored 102 points to claim the third and final spot in the 12-13 age division. She finished four points ahead of Hopkinsville’s Cate Blane, who will be the first alternate. Lone Oak sixth grader Madison Glisson finished in second place.

Conlee’s sister Campbell scored a 28 in the 7-9 age group and finished as the second alternate in fifth place.

In the 14-15 age division, Rheagan Lindsey scored a 91, which was one point out of the second alternate position.

Conlee will now advance to the sub-regional level where she will compete at The Grove in College Grove, Tennessee. A top three finish there puts her in the regional final September 8 at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

The Drive, Chip, and Putt competition was created in 2013 by the Masters Tournament, USGA, and PGA with the purpose of growing the game of golf at the youth level. Players who advance through the first three rounds in each age group earn a spot in the National Finals, which is held at Augusta National the Sunday before the Masters.
