Emma Talley will be working on the Fourth of July.
The Caldwell County grad and former national champion at the University of Alabama, has an afternoon tee time for round one of the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic on Thursday in Oneida, Wisconsin.
Talley will start on hole No. 1 at 1:58 p.m. Thursday.
She then plays in the morning in Friday’s second round, beginning on No. 10 that day at 8:58 a.m.
Talley had a big weekend at Thornberry Creek last year.Talley shot rounds of 65, 68, 68 and 67 to finish at 20-under.
That gave Talley her highest finish as a pro. She ended up in a three-way tie for third place and wound up with a payday of just under $106,000.
Sei Young Kim won the Thornberry Creek event last year at 31-under par. Carlota Ciganda was second at 22-under.
Some 138 players will begin action Thursday in this year’s 72-hole event. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 70 and ties. The purse is $2 million, with the winner’s portion $300,000.
Talley enters play this week 92nd on the LPGA Tour’s money list. She has earned $70,119 this year in 15 starts.
