Lyon County sophomore Calista Collins has been named Class A First Team All-State by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
Collins led the Second Region in batting (.566) and was second in home runs (15) during the 2019 season, helping the Lady Lyons advance to the school’s first-ever appearance in the region championship. She also had 60 hits and 54 RBIs.
Collins, who was named All-State Honorable Mention as a freshman, was the only Second Region player named to the Class A All-State squad. Maddie Gailor of Louisville Holy Cross was named the Class 1A Player of the Year, while the Holy Cross coaches were named the Class 1A coaching staff of the year.
While the KHSAA does not classify softball by size, the KSCA separates schools by size for the purpose of their postseason awards. Players must play for a KSCA member school to be eligible for the all-state awards.
