After qualifying for the state tennis tournament last season, UHA’s boys’ doubles team of Dylan Edmonson and Brady Bilyeu took the next step forward Tuesday night at the regional tennis tournament in Henderson. The duo handily won both of their matches Tuesday evening to take home the boys’ doubles regional championship.
Edmonson and Bilyeu began their evening facing the surprise team of the semis, Caldwell County’s Shelton Cansler and Jordan Hammett. The UHA duo was able to pick up the win in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Cansler and Hammett, as semfinalists, qualify for the state tennis tournament in Lexington.
Edmonson and Bilyeu moved on to the championship match to take on the pairing of Heyden Sauer and Bryce Dhom, of Henderson County. The Henderson duo was coming off a long, hard fought win over the #1 seeded pair from Madisonville in the semifinals. The UHA duo got off to a quick start and controlled the match throughout, winning the title 6-2, 6-3.
