The Hoptown Hoppers will have a second local player on their squad this summer with the announcement of Lane Diuguid joining the summer wooden bat team.
Diuguid is a senior left-handed pitcher at Christian County High that has signed with Western Kentucky University. He joins Drew McGowan of University Heights Academy on the 2019 Hoppers roster.
Other players expected to joint the Hoppers this summer include:
- Hunter Evans, a catcher at Western Kentucky University, who attended South Warren High School in Bowling Green.
- Cam Barlow, a left-handed pitcher at Louisiana-Monroe, who attended Dyer County High School in Halls, Tennessee. His brother Trysten plays for Mississippi State.
- Brendan Nee, a catcher at Lipscomb, who is from Olympia, Washington
- Zane Zappuhar, a left-handed pitcher at Southeastern Louisiana who hails from Gonzalez, Louisiana
- Hunter Arnold, a right-handed pitcher at Southeastern Louisiana, whose Central, Louisiana High School team won two state titles
- Sammy Butera, a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher at St. Louis University, who went 8-2 with an 0.89 ERA as a senior at Niles West High School in Skokie, Illinois
- Hunter Crosby, a right-handed pitcher at Western Kentucky, who is from Dickson, Tennessee.
- Clay Simpson, a right-handed pitcher at Carson-Newman, who attended Unicoi County High in Erwin, Tennessee.
- Aubrey Gillentine, a right-handed pitcher at Southern Mississippi University, who struck out 309 batters in 212 innings in high school
- Juan Mateo, a right-handed pitcher at Tennessee Wesleyan, who hails from the Dominican Republic.
The Hoppers open their 2019 season May 31 against Madisonville. Home games will be played at Hopkinsville High School this summer.
