Caldwell County’s guys won three of five matches while Caldwell’s girls split four matches in tennis action on Tuesday at Webster County.
In boys’ action, Caldwell’s Ryan Hammett defeated Vincent Major 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 in singles play while Webster’s Seth Ranes downed Billy Wallace 8-6.
Caldwell won two doubles matches, with Shelton Cansler and Jordan Hammett topping Tyler Kuykendall and Ryan Warford 6-0, 6-1; and Michael Henry and Brycen Banister beat Eli Byrum and Lane Dailey 8-1.
Webster’s team of Reid Davenport and Miles Frailey downed Caldwell’s Nick Adams and Riley Thomas 8-2.
In the girls’ match, Caldwell’s Belle Englebright defeated Maggie Jones 6-0, 6-0 while Webster’s Allison Meisel knocked off Kaylee McEnaney 8-2.
In doubles, the Lady Tigers’ Maddie Morgan and Chasie Phelps topped Gracey Kelley and Marissa Austin 6-0, 6-2. Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans’ Natalie Austin and Mariah Austin turned back Shae Sharp and Josie Shaffer 8-4.
On Monday, Caldwell’s boys dropped five matches at Paducah Tilghman.
In singles, Ryan Hammett fell to Davis Rowton 6-0, 6-0; Billy Wallace lost to Sam Kirchoff 6-2, 6-0; and Bryce Thompson was defeated by Mason Blondell 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Shelton Cansler and Jordan Hammett lost to A.J. Armstrong and Andrew Katz 7-5, 2-6, 10-8; and Michael Henry and Brycen Banister fell to Zach Ybarzabal and Ben Lulbuhn 6-3, 6-0.
In girls’ action at Tilghman, the only winner for Caldwell was Belle Englebright, who defeated Anna West 6-1, 6-1.
Tilghman won the other two singles competitions, with Erin Kelly beating Chasie Phelps 6-2, 6-2; and Abby Brown topping Kaylee McEnaney 6-2, 6-2.
In the lone doubles match, Caldwell’s Shae Sharp and Josie Shaffer fell to Kate Criner and Meghan Gruber 6-2, 6-7, 8-6.
