Heritage Christian Academy split a baseball doubleheader with the Cumberland Christian Home Educators Tuesday in Bowling Green. HCA dropped the first game 5-3 but rallied to win the nightcap 6-5.

CCHE is a homeschool program in Pulaski County that plays in the Kentucky Christian School Athletic Association (KCSAA).

In the opener, HCA scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 6-5 win. Josh Jones’ sacrifice fly scored Weston Powell with the winning run.

The Warriors led 4-1 before CCHE tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning. The Hawks added another run in the seventh before the late heroics gave the Warriors the 6-5 win.

HCA managed just three hits in the game. Elijah Britton had a double, and Powell drove in two runs.

Trenton Hayes got the win in relief of Caleb Jones. Hayes didn’t allow a hit in 1.1 innings of work. He struck out three. Jones fanned seven in 5.2 innings.

In the nightcap, HCA fell behind 4-0 after two innings before scoring twice in the third inning. Gentry led off the inning with a walk and later scored on an Elijah Britton groundout. Weston Powell followed with an RBI single that scored Bradley Boyd.

Grant Floyd drove in HCA’s third run in the fifth inning, and the Warriors had the winning run at the plate before the threat was thwarted.

Britton had two hits and an RBI for the Warriors. Josh Jones took the loss, allowing four earned runs in five innings. He struck out five batters.

Heritage Christian Academy (13-5) travels to North Hardin Christian Thursday looking to stay unbeaten in KCAA play on the season.
