
Caldwell County pitcher Katie Franklin struck out 12 in the Lady Tigers’ four-inning win over Dawson Springs on Tuesday. Only a leadoff walk kept Franklin from tossing a perfect game as the Lady Tigers dismissed the Lady Panthers 15-0 in Princeton.
Six-run first and fourth innings powered Caldwell to its second win over Dawson this season. The Lady Tigers won 23-0 at Dawson Springs last month. Franklin settled for a no-hitter on Tuesday, throwing 45 pitches in the contest.
Offensively, Franklin was 3-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in. She also scored three times. Majah Hollowell was 3-for-3 with a homer, a triple and four RBIs. She also scored three runs. Allie Felker was 2-for-3 with a pair of triples and two RBIs. Madi Choate went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Caldwell recorded 14 base hits in the contest.
The Lady Tigers have won their last 12 meetings with Dawson Springs.
Caldwell is now 8-10 overall and 3-2 in district play. They are scheduled to host district foe Hopkins County Central on Thursday.
Dawson Springs is now 0-10 and 0-4. The Lady Panthers have scored just 11 runs in 10 games.
