Murray State senior Anna Moore is the Ohio Valley Conference women’s champion after shooting a 5-under to edge teammate Linette Holmslykke by one shot Wednesday in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
The University Heights Academy alum followed her tourney record 66 on Monday with an even par 72 on Tuesday for a three-day total of 211.
Moore had two birdies on the front nine but lost that advantage with a double-bogey on the par-5 11th hole. She birdied No. 14, but another double-bogey on No. 16 moved her one shot over par. Moore responded with a birdie on the 17th hole and a par on the 18th to claim the title.
Her round of 66 Tuesday included seven birdies and an eagle-3 on the same 11th hole she double-bogeyed on Wednesday.
Moore’s round is a career-best for her at Murray State and tied the OVC Tournament mark set by Murray’s Moa Folke in 2017.
Murray State easily claimed their fourth consecutive OVC team title with an even par score, 20 shots ahead of second place Eastern Kentucky.
Moore grew up playing softball and didn’t start playing golf until her freshman year at University Heights Academy. She improved to the point of qualifying for the KHSAA State Meet and parlayed that into a career at Murray State. She is a two-time All-OVC golfer and the two-time Kentucky Women’s Amateur champion. Now, she can add OVC champion to her golfing resume.
