Lyon County moved into the championship game of the Second Region Baseball All-A Classic with a 9-0 win over Dawson Springs Tuesday at Crittenden County. The Lyons will face University Heights Academy in the title game Thursday.
Sophomore Corey Cissell pitched a complete game one-hitter. He struck out a career-high 11 batters and walked just one for the Lyons.
Lyon County scored in every inning to back the pitching of Cissell.
Brady Darnall had two hits and an RBI for the Lyons, while Gabe Board and Gunnar Bingham each scored twice, and Jackson Shoulders drove in two runs.
Dylan Dawson didn’t pitch bad for the Panthers (0-8), allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out five. Brennen Cunningham had the lone hit for Dawson Springs.
Lyon County (8-5) is in the All-A region title game for the second time in three seasons. They will look to win their first region title Thursday when they play UHA at 6pm at Gordon Guess Field in Marion.
