A rare afternoon of mild weather allowed Hopkinsville and Christian County to play a dual match at Ruff Park Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers edged the Colonels 5-4.
Hoptown’s Kanta Hakamata rallied for a three-set win over K.T. Pollard. Pollard won the first set 6-2 with Hakamata winning the second 6-2 and then the tie-breaker.
Tyquez Douglas and Dylan Greenfield both gave Christian County 8-3 wins in singles play. Douglas beat Hayden Woosley, and Greenfield knocked off Spencer Powell.
Hoptown’s Zach Moore beat R.J. Falvey 9-7. Tiger teammate Maxwell Bauserman beat Christian County’s Carson Brown 8-3, and Hoptown’s Garrett Pyle beat Matthew Floyd 8-1.
Christian County picked up two doubles wins in three matches against Hoptown. Pollard and Douglas beat Woosley and Powell of Hopkinsville 6-0, 7-6. Greenfield and Falvey also won for Christian County, defeating Moore and Ethan Bailey 8-5.
Hoptown’s lone doubles win came from Bauserman and Spencer Walker who beat Brown and Floyd 8-1.
Hopkinsville and Christian County will meet again on April 12.
