
Trigg County scored two runs in the final inning to beat Logan County 5-3 and salvage the final game of the Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat Classic Saturday. Trigg lost to No. 2 Warren East 5-0 earlier in the day.
Against Logan, T.T. Grubbs drew a bases loaded walk, and Logan Darnall added an RBI single in the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie and give the Lady Wildcats the win.
Trigg scored a 3-spot in the third inning on consecutive singles by Phelan Dossett, Logan Darnall, and Kara Southwood. Rylee Hendricks added an RBI single, and Autumn Durham plated a run with a fielder’s choice to put the Lady Wildcats up 3-2.
Darnall and Southwood each had two hits as part of a season-high nine-hit attack. Hannah Colbert picked up the win with five innings of six-hit ball. She struck out five and walked one.
Abby Canler had two hits for Logan County (5-2).
In the opener, Trigg County was shut out 5-0 by Warren East, the No. 2 team in the Kentucky Softball Coaches’ Poll.
Warren East outhit Trigg 10-6 but left seven runners on base. The Lady Raiders scored two runs in the first and two more in the fifth.
Darnall had two of Trigg’s six hits. Colbert struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone in the circle.
Trigg County’s season record is now 3-3. They will host Marshall County Monday.
