Kyky Tandy finishes his high school basketball career with 3,363 career points – one of only three players to top 3,000 career points. Harry Todd (Earlington) and Ty Rogers (Lyon County) are the other two. That total will also put him in the top 10 in career points statewide once schools send their updates to the KHSAA.
As the dust settles, Tandy will also finish in the top 10 in state history in field goals made and the top 15 in career 3-pointers made.
Now, the postseason All-State teams will have the University Heights Academy senior on their First Teams, starting with the Lexington Herald-Leader this week.
Tandy will have his pick of all-star games to compete in this summer as he prepares to attend Xavier University in the fall. With Tray Hollowell playing in the NCAA Tournament for Wofford, Tandy is hoping to join is teammate in the Big Dance next year as the Musketeers look to rebound from their NIT appearance this year.
Whether it’s his high-flying dunks, his deep 3-pointers, or his ability to make the impossible pass, it will be a while before basketball fans in the Second Region see a player the caliber of Kyky Tandy again.
