Former Caldwell County standout Eli Pepper had eight points and six rebounds Tuesday night to help Lipscomb claim an 89-81 win at Davidson in the first round of the Postseason NIT.
Pepper buried a 3-pointer with just 34 seconds to play to give Lipscomb an 85-79 lead as the Bisons advance to a second-round contest against top-seeded UNC Greensboro.
Down five with 10:30 remaining in the game, the Bisons (26-7) surged ahead for good with a 13-2 run over the next 6 minutes.
It was Lipscomb’s first postseason win in the NCAA Div. I era at the school.
Pepper, a senior, has now scored 916 career points and grabbed 990 rebounds at Lipscomb.
