The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons banged out 15 hits and took advantage of 5 Lyon County errors to top the Lady Lyons 13-1 Tuesday night in Eddyville. The Lady Lyons slip to 1-1, with a 5th-District match-up with Trigg County scheduled for Thursday. The Lady Maroons are back in action on Thursday as well, with the Apollo E-Gals set to visit.
Madisonville steadily built its lead, getting 3 runs in the first inning off Lyon starter Tori Schenk, before adding another in the second, and 2 each in the third and fourth.
Leading 9-0 in the seventh, the Lady Maroons used back-to-back home runs from Hope Bowles and Mykayla Spurlin, and an RBI triple by Jayda Perkins, to go up 13-0.
The Lady Lyons got on the board in their final at-bat when Sydney Melton doubled to bring in Lauren Davis.
Schenk took the loss for the Lady Lyons, lasting 2.2 innings while allowing 6 runs, 3 earned, on 6 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Kaelyn Conger pitched the final 4.1 innings, yielding 7 runs, 6 earned, on 9 hits with a walk and a strikeout.
