Caldwell County’s girls swept four matches from Henderson County on Tuesday to improve to 2-0 on the season, but Caldwell’s guys won just one of four matches and are now 1-1 on the season.
In girls singles, Caldwell’s Belle Englebright handled Zoe Lawrence 6-0, 6-0; and Kaylee McEnaney defeated Nora St. Pierre 8-5.
In doubles play, Caldwell’s Maddie Morgan and Chasie Phelps edged Kelly Priest and Isbella Wright 7-5 (7-6), 6-3; and Shae Sharp and Josie Shaffer beat Merrick Conkright and Cameron Chandler 8-2.
In the boys’ match, Henderson’s Jon Nunez defeated Caldwell’s Shelton Cansler 6-0, 6-0 in singles while the Colonels’ Issac Holland nipped Ryan Hammett 8-6.
In doubles, Henderson’s Hayden Sauer and Bryce Dhan defeated Cansler and Jordan Hammett 6-2, 6-3 while Caldwell’s Michael Henry and Brycen Banister topped Corlan Hancock and Ty Polley 8-2.
Caldwell’s tennis teams will also play at home on Thursday when they face Hopkins County Central.
