Caldwell County senior Derrin Boyd will play basketball at Georgetown College.
Boyd made that announcement Friday on his Twitter account.
“Blessed and honored to say I will be attending Georgetown College where I will further my education and basketball career!! Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the process!! #OnceATigerAlwaysATiger”
Boyd helped lead Caldwell to a 19-11 record this season. The Tigers reached the 2nd Region semifinals before falling to University Heights.
Boyd finished his high school career fourth on Caldwell’s career scoring list with 1,911 points. He averaged 24.0 points a game as a senior.
Georgetown is ranked third in the NAIA ranks this season. The Tigers (28-4) won the Mid-South Conference championship earlier this week, defeating Life University 104-75, setting an MSC record for most points in a championship game.
Georgetown now waits to find out its seed and bracket for the 2019 NAIA Men’s Division I National Championship. All of that information will be released March 13.
