
Caldwell County won the inaugural 5th District Alumni Games at Lyon County on Saturday, defeating Trigg County 68-49 in the championship game. Caldwell beat Livingston Central in the semifinals while Trigg outlasted Lyon County 86-80 in three overtimes. (Caldwell was a longtime member of the 5th District before being moved to the 7th District in 2005.)
Players on the Caldwell team included JaQuavion Wimbleduff, Jesse Adams, Damonta Hopson, Timothy Miller, Jerome Brown, Tron Gray, Charles Taylor and DeQuez Glover.
Members of the Trigg squad were James Crenshaw II, Horace Street, Deonquez Nance, Lamar Northington, Jamaal Boyd, Jeremy Jones, Jakelzie Mayes and Darious Radford.
Lyon players included Ty Rogers, Matt DeFew, Karkik Patel, Josh Polk, Alex Sutton, Logan Akridge, Andrew Brazell, Sean Cotham, Pete Travis, J.R. Ramey, Ryan Williams and Sam Suitor.
Playing for Livingston were Brent Doom, Greg Kimbro, Danny Stoner, T.J. Palmer, Jamie Wharton, T.J. Owen, Josh Chittenden and Vincent Halligan.
Lyon anticipates doing the competition again next year, but will likely move it to November as a preseason tip-off event to the high school basketball season.
