Fort Campbell’s last girls’ basketball win came three years ago this month against Trigg County. On Thursday, the Lady Wildcats wanted to make sure there were no bookend losses to the Lady Falcons with a 56-19 win on post.

The Lady Wildcats scored the first nine points of the game, led 13-2 after one quarter and kept the Lady Falcons from getting any closer the rest of the game.

Trigg County didn’t press, played a zone defense, and sent five-player platoons in throughout the contest. Thirteen different players scored for the Lady Wildcats, with Adri Phillips the lone Trigg player in double figures with 12 points and six rebounds.

Marleigh Reynolds added eight points, and T.T. Grubbs, Bethany Stallons, and Katelyn Slone each scored six points.

Trigg outrebounded Fort Campbell 38-23 and shot 42-percent from the field.

Four of Fort Campbell’s six field goals were from behind the arc, with Danielle Houston knocking down two for a team-high six points. Asia Cabill and Liliauna Powers each scored five points, and eighth grader Aliya Powers had three points, six rebounds, and eight blocked shots.

Since beating Trigg County 60-56 on Feb. 5, 2016, Fort Campbell has dropped 81 straight games. They will try and snap the streak Friday at Crittenden County.

Trigg County (14-15) will close out their regular season in a late-scheduled contest at defending First Region champion Murray.
