The Todd County Central boys’ basketball team found itself trailing early, and could never climb back in a 68-44 loss to hosts Muhlenberg County on Tuesday night. The Rebels will be on the road again on Thursday to close out the regular season at Allen County-Scottsville. The Patriots won 72-59 in Elkton in the teams’ first meeting.
Jon Calvery scored 6 first-quarter points for the Rebels, but Nash Divine poured in 10 to help the Mustangs to a 20-13 lead after one. The Rebels were outscored 17-10 in the second quarter, and Muhlenberg led by 14 at the break.
Calvery got going again after halftime with 10 in the third, and the Rebels held the Mustangs to 11 points to trim the margin to 9. However, Noah Phillips erupted for 11, and Muhlenberg held Todd County to only 5 points over the final 8 minutes for the 24-point win.
Calvery led all scorers with 19, followed for the Rebels by Preston Moore with 9, and Austin Rager with 7.
Divine led the Mustangs with 17, Phillips finished with 11, and Asher Carver scored 10.
