The Todd County Central girls’ basketball team started slowly and never got going against the visiting Rossview Lady Hawks, falling 61-24 Monday night in Elkton.
After Emoni Fort scored on a putback, the Lady Rebels only trailed 7-4 with 2:16 left in the first quarter. However, those would be the last points of the frame for Todd County, and Rossview led by 9 after the first 8 minutes.
Todd County’s Amy Brumfield scored 6 second-quarter points on two 3-pointers, but the Lady Hawks used 6 each from Macy Rippy and Sarah Beth Johnson and closed the half on a 9-0 run to lead 35-15 at the break.
The Lady Rebels continued to struggle to create offense in the second half, only managing 9 points the rest of the way. Rossview led by 34 after three quarters, and cruised to the 37-point victory.
Brumfield’s 9 led the Lady Rebels, followed by Kinley Reding with 5.
Rippy and Johnson both finished in double figures for the Lady Hawks, with 18 and 13, respectively.
