Christian County has an ambitious schedule for 2019 as the Lady Colonels look to defend their Second Region softball title and return to a retooled state tournament.
There are 12 teams on the 2019 Lady Colonel schedule that were ranked in the final top 25 softball rankings last year, including six region champions.
Christian County’s first three games are against Eighth District opponents, including the March 19 opener at University Heights Academy.
Their first home games are Saturday, March 23 when they host Clarksville Northeast and Caldwell County.
The first game against a defending region champ comes March 26 at Marshall County, a team they beat 4-3 in nine innings in the state tournament opener last year.
The other games against teams ranked last year are:
No. 3 Male (March 30 at Central Hardin)
No. 6 Warren East (April 19 at Elizabethtown)
No. 7 McCracken County (April 13 home and May 18 away)
No. 8 Apollo (April 23 away and May 14 home)
No. 11 Madisonville (April 11 home and May 9 away)
No. 12 Marshall County (May 26 home and May 16 away)

Christian County will also play two games against out-of-state teams that won 20 games last year. The Lady Colonels will play at Floyd Central, Ind. (22-7) April 2 and host Massac County, Ill. (22-5) April 6.
The Lady Colonels return seven starters from last year’s team that finished 37-5 and won two games at the state tournament.
This year, the state tournament is a single-elimination event that will be held at the University of Kentucky after years of playing a double-elimination format.
