The Christian County Lady Colonels’ journey for victory on Friday night came up just short against the Barren County Trojanettes, falling 62-54 in their home gym. While Christian County’s offense was consistent with their play so far this season, their defense was costly in the losing effort. The Lady Colonels had given up just an average of 52 points per game, a number that will increase following Friday night’s result.
For the Colonels, senior guard Aaliyah Hampton had an offensive outburst of 18 points, 12 of them coming in the second half. Joining her in double-figure scoring was fellow senior guard Bianna Snorton, posting 12 points.
The Trojanettes stole the show, though, led by Elizabeth Bertram’s 17 points. The junior guard took command early, pouring in 13 points during the first half.
Senior guard Bailey Pedigo did damage in the second and fourth quarters, scoring 14 points in the win. Mallory Pedigo also managed to find double-figures, netting 12 points.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to just above .500 (7-6) ahead of their home matchup with the crosstown University Heights Lady Blazers next Tuesday.
