It was a tough visit to the Zaxby’s Holiday Tournament this week for the Fort Campbell Falcons. The Falcons finished their appearance dropping their third game in a row, losing to Kipp, Tennessee 65-54 in the 7th place game at Kenwood High School.
The Falcons got off to a slow start Saturday and could never rebound from it. Kipp limited the Falcon offense to just seven points in the opening quarter and jumped out to a 16-7 lead.
With Jaylen Allen and Doryan Hall warming up in the 2nd quarter, the Falcon offense got going and Fort Campbell was able to cut into the lead. By the half, the Falcons had trimmed the margin to 30-26. Allen had 7 in the second quarter, while Hall had five.
Kyle Wesley and Michael Neal took things over for Kipp during the 3rd quarter of play. The pair combined for 13 points as Kipp pushed the lead back out to 46-38.
The two teams played fairly even down the stretch. But, the Falcons could not fake a final push to get near the lead, as Kipp held on for the eleven point margin.
Doryan Hall was the top scorer for Fort Campbell with 15 points. Jaylen Allen added 13. Neal and Wesley had 19 points each for Kipp.
The loss drops Fort Campbell to 4-5 on the season. The Falcons will return to action January 5th when they host Christian County in an 8th District battle.
