In just 17 months, YourSportsEdge has become the area’s leader in area sports coverage, and with our latest addition, that coverage will now move to an even higher level. YSE has announced the addition of former Princeton Times Leader sports editor Todd Griffin to the staff.
Grffin Started at WPKY Radio in 1986 and worked there for WPKY, and later WAVJ, until December 1994. He did mornings for 3 years, and did play-by-play for Caldwell County Tiger football and Caldwell County Tiger basketball broadcasts beginning in the 1989-90 season. Griffin was instrumental in starting live Caldwell County Tiger baseball broadcasts on WPKY for the first time.
Griffin started at The Times Leader in January 1995, working in the darkroom and assisting with sports. He became sports editor in 1997 and held that position until last week. Griffin received extensive recognition for his sportswriting, winning over 60 Kentucky Press Association awards and two National Newspaper Association awards. He published “100 Years of Tiger Football” in 2010 and was inducted into the Caldwell County Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
Griffin becomes a part of the YSE staff that includes Tom Rogers, Scott Brown, Josh Nichols, John Morgan Francis, Dan Dickerson, Cindy Dougherty, Kelly Phillips, Mitchell Blackmon, and Antoinette Seminario. The staff brings more than 100 years of experience to a new day of local sports coverage.
