Caldwell Girls Fall to Dyer County in Lady Marshal Holiday Classic

The Caldwell County girls’ basketball team finished without a win at the Lady Marshal Holiday Classic, losing 75-56 to Dyer County on Saturday after dropping its first two games on Thursday and Friday.  The Lady Tigers slip to 5-5 overall, and will look to get above .500 when they travel to Dawson Springs (4-5) on January 3.

Dyer County put the game away in the opening quarter, outscoring the Lady Tigers 24-4 behind 8 points from Meme Smith and 5 from Gracie McVay.  Bella McConnell scored 10 second-quarter points, but Caldwell couldn’t dent the Lady Choctaws lead and trailed 45-22 at halftime.

Caldwell County played the Lady Choctaws even in the second half, with both teams scoring 16 points in the third quarter and 18 in the fourth.  McConnell scored 9 of her game-high 25 in the fourth quarter.

Smith finished with 20 to lead Dyer County, followed by Brooklyn King with 15 and McVay with 10.
