The Christian County girls’ basketball team beat Ballard 49-35 on Saturday, evening its record to 2-2 at the Queen of the Commonwealth at Bullitt East High School. The Lady Colonels improve to 7-5 on the year, while the Bruins drop their second-straight to slip to 3-6.
Christian County managed only 3 first-quarter points, but Ballard started slowly as well and only led 8-3 after the first 8 minutes. Both teams picked it up in the second quarter, with the Lady Colonels outscoring the Bruins 16-12 to cut the margin to 1 point at halftime.
Christian County held Ballard to a single basket in the third quarter, taking the lead at 27-22 heading to the final quarter. The Lady Colonels kept the momentum and scored 22 points in the fourth, easing to a 14-point victory.
Aaliyah Hampton led Christian County with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 8 steals. Bianna Snorton added 12 points and 8 boards.
No Bruins finished in double figures, with Ayanna Morgan leading the way with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Kiarah Carney chipped in 8 points.
The Lady Colonels have a nice holiday break before they host Barren County (10-1) on January 4 at Colonel Gym.
