The Caldwell County Lady Tigers fell behind early Friday and could just never get things going. Graves County took an early 11 point lead and then steamed past Caldwell County 67-24 in the Lady Marshall Holiday Classic.
The Lady Tigers had trouble containing the Lady Eagles offense coming out of the gate. Graves lit the scoreboard for 23 first quarter points. Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles defense was just getting warmed up for how it would play in the second half, as Graves held the Lady Tigers to 12 points in the opening quarter.
The first quarter would be the last time Caldwell County would score double digits in a quarter. Graves limited the Lady Tigers to six points in the second quarter, as they pushed the lead on out to 42-18 at the half.
The offensive problems got even tougher for Caldwell County in the second half. Graves County limited the Lady Tigers to four points in the third quarter and two points in the 4th quarter, on one field goal in each quarter.
Graves County would roll the lead out to 55-22 after three quarters, and then cruised on out to the final 43 point margin.
Bella McConnell had nine points for Caldwell County. Jacey Jaggers added six.
Taylor Carrico was the top scorer for Graves County with 19. Carson Travis scored 13 for the Lady Eagles.
The loss dropped Caldwell County to 5-4 on the season.
