
The Christian County Colonels rebounded from a tough loss Thursday in strong fashion Friday. The Colonels knocked off host Floyd Central 69-50 in the Pop’s Chevy Classic.
The Colonels opened fast in the game Friday. With Fred Tandy starting out hot, the Colonels jumped out to a 22-12 lead after the opening quarter.
The Colonels defensive pressure continued to caused Floyd Central problems during the 2nd quarter of the game. Christian County was able to parlay that pressure into an extension of the lead. Fred Tandy knocked down a three just in front of the buzzer to push the Colonels lead on out to 45-26.
Christian County kept the heat up coming out of the locker room, pushing the lead to 51-26 with just over five minutes to go in the third quarter. The lead kept growing over the quarter, with Christian County moving it out to 58-31 with 1:08 to go in the third. The quarter ended with the Colonels up 58-34.
Floyd Central trimmed the lead in the final quarter, but never mounted any kind of threat against the Colonels.
Christian County improves to 4-5 with the win.
