There are big runs to start a game and then there is what the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers did Tuesday night. Hopkinsville scored the first 55 points of the game on their way to an 88-20 8th District win over the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons.
Hopkinsville blitzed the Lady Falcons from the get go, jumping out to a 35-0 lead after the first quarter. The lead would swell to 55-0 at one point during the first half. By the half, the Lady Tigers were up 64-6.
The Lady Falcons had one of their best quarters of the season in the 3rd quarter, going toe-to-toe with Hopkinsville. The Lady Tigers inched the lead out to 79-17 after three. With the clock running continuously, neither team put up many points in the final quarter, as Hopkinsville pulled out to the final 68 point margin.
Breon Oldham led four Lady Tigers in double figures with 17. Yogi McKnight and Jayla Rose added 16 points apiece. Donisha Flowers scored 10 on the night.
Fort Campbell was led in scoring by Danielle Houston with 8 points. Asia Cabill chipped in with 6 points for the Lady Falcons.
Hopkinsville improved to 8-2 on the season. The Lady Tigers head off Thursday to the Owensboro Invitational.
Fort Campbell drops to 0-11 on the season. The Lady Falcons will go to Russellville Thursday for the Russellville Holiday Classic.
