Playing their seventh game in as many days, the Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball team surrendered 28 third-quarter points and fell 76-64 to hosts Hendersonville on Monday night. The Warriors have a 6-game win streak snapped to stand at 12-3 overall.
Gavin Fowler scored 6 in the opening quarter, but Ky Stanley carried Hendersonville with 13 and the Warriors trailed 17-13. HCA’s Austin Crawford helped out with 5 to lead the second-quarter charge, while Stanley went scoreless, trimming the Hendersonville lead to a single point at 29-28 at halftime.
The game was decided in the third quarter, with Stanley erupting for 17 points and Hendersonville outscoring the Warriors 28-9 to take a 20-point advantage. However, Fowler, Crawford and Rajah Mills responded with 25 of the Warriors’ 27 points over the final 8 minutes, cutting the margin to 12 before falling 76-64.
Stanley finished with 34 for Hendersonville to lead all scorers, followed by Landon Schroeder with 11, 8 in the fourth quarter.
Fowler’s 17 paced HCA, with Crawford scoring 16, and Mills finishing with 10 points and 6 assists. Dalton Folz just missed a double-double with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
