The Lyon County Lyon’s three game winning streak came to an end Saturday. The Lyons were upended 75-66 by Carlisle County in the Save a Life Shootout at McCracken County High School.
The two teams went back and forth in the opening minutes. Behind the play of 7th grader Travis Perry, the Lyons were able to take a 16-13 lead after the opening quarter.
The game stayed tight during the opening half of the 2nd quarter. The Comets were able to close the half out on a bit of a run and take a 34-26 lead to the locker room at the half.
Carlisle County hit the Lyons with a 10-2 run to open the second half and extend the lead to 44-28. Lyon County tried to battle back and cut the lead down to 58-45 at the end of three.
The Lyons opened the 4th quarter and began making their push to get back into the game. Behind the play of Kade Blackburn and Travis Perry, the Lyons would close the gap to five points halfway through the final quarter. However, the Comets were able to stem the Lyon County rally and hold on for the nine point win.
It was another big game for Travis Perry, who connected for 25 points on the night.
The Lyons now fall to 6-4, and will return to action Tuesday, when they host McCracken County.
