University Heights Academy senior Drew McGowan signed to continue his baseball career with Mississippi State University in a ceremony at the school on Thursday.
McGowan began playing baseball for the Blazers in the 7th grade, and has been named All-District for the last four years. After his sophomore year he was selected to play in the Kentucky Baseball Coaches Association class of 2019 East/West All Star Game. He was also selected to play for Team Kentucky in the presticious PBR Futures Game in Indianapolis, IN.
After he junior season he was voted First Team All-State selection by the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association.
McGowan has played summer travel baseball for the last 5 seasons on the Perfect Game Circuit with the Kentucky Prospects, coached by Tremayne Donald.
McGowan has excelled in the classroom as well, boasting a 4.26 GPA and a 34 on the ACT, while being Commended National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction.
