Trigg County closed their district game with Crittenden County on a 22-7 run and handed the defending district champion Rockets a 62-50 loss Friday at Wildcat Gym.

The Wildcats stepped up their pressure and forced eight Rocket turnovers in the fourth quarter that led the 11 Trigg points.

It was a turnaround from the previous night when the Wildcats lost to Marshall County 67-31 in the Hoopfest. A night after totaling zero assists, the Wildcats had 12 on 18 field goals. Trigg also hit 16-of-25 second half free throws and was 23-of-35 for the game.

Jakobe Bridges hit a 3-pointer with 5:21 left to tie the game at 43. Kyron Grubbs and Kendric Adams combined for the final 19 points for the Wildcats during their game-clinching run.

Crittenden County led 17-13 after one quarter, but Trigg led 29-26 at halftime. The Rockets led 39-36 after three quarters before Trigg mounted their fourth quarter rally.

The contest was a typical back-and-forth Fifth District game that featured eight ties and 10 lead changes.

Grubbs scored a career-high 24 points, including 13 in the decisive fourth quarter. He continually found his way to the basket, hitting 6-of-7 shots from the field and 11-of-14 free throws.

Adams added 21 points, with 10 of his coming in the final frame. Jakobe Bridges scored eight points and had four assists and four steals.

Gabe Mott led Crittenden County (0-2) with 15 points, and Sawyer Towery scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Rockets played without inside threat Preston Turley who is recovering from an ankle injury suffered during football season.

Trigg County (2-1) has their next two games at home starting with Fort Campbell Tuesday and a district doubleheader with Livingston Central Friday.
