Following a quality win on Wednesday and Thanksgiving on Thursday, the Kentucky Wildcats have another quick turnaround by hosting the Tennessee State Tigers on Friday night.
Kentucky (4-1) is favored by 28 points at home over Tennessee State (2-3).
In recent action, it’s been PJ Washington, Quade Green and Tyler Herro leading the way for the Wildcats.
Green, despite coming off the bench in every game this season, has averaged 14 PPG and shot 55% from the floor in his last two outings. His production in the second unit has kept Kentucky’s offense from becoming stagnant when the starters take a rest.
Herro, starting every game this season at shooting guard, has averaged just under 13 PPG in his last three. What stands out for Herro, though, are his four assists per game during that stretch. That mark leads the team, presenting the freshman’s value to making teammates better when he’s on the court.
Washington, though, has been playing as good of basketball as anyone in the SEC. He’s been in double figures for three consecutive games, averaging 21 PPG. The sophomore has also averaged 12 rebounds per contest during that span. As Kentucky’s height will be a matchup-nightmare for most of their opponents, expect Washington’s production to become the norm as the season unfolds.
Freshmen such as Ashton Hagans, EJ Montgomery and Immanuel Quickley have yet to post their breakout performances as a Wildcat. On Friday, that opportunity will present itself once again leading up to the team’s trip to New York for the Citi Hoops Classic against Seton Hall.
Tip-off is set for 7 P.M. EDT on Friday evening.
