The Lyon County Lyons are a team that returns several players from the 2017-2018 season. However, it was the “new kid on the block” that stole the show at times during Lyon County’s home scrimmage against Ballard Memorial Monday night.

7th grader Travis Perry connected for 32 points in only three quarters of action to lead Lyon County past the Bombers. Perry had 17 points in the first quarter, seven points in the second quarter, and 8 more in the third quarter to lead the Lyon County effort.

The Lyons won three of the four quarters. Lyon won the first quarter 25-12. They handily won the 2nd quarter as well, 25-10. Lyon’s offense continued to be potent in the third quarter, outscoring Ballard 21-13. In the 4th quarter of the varsity scrimmage, Coach Jeff Embrey let the reserves get the full eight minutes, as the Bombers edged out the Lyons 12-9. For the total scrimmage, Lyon County cruised past Ballard 80-47.

Three other Lyons reached double figures in the scrimmage. Senior Gabe Board had 15 points. Sophomore Kade Blackburn added 14. Freshman Jackson Shoulders chipped in with 12 and was a big presence down in the paint.

The Lyons will officially open the season November 27th, when they host Caldwell County.
